My son Chas was addicted to alcohol and drugs, and he was in an accident where a man lost his life. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Over the course of the next four years, I printed out the First15 daily devotional and sent it to my son each day. He would read them and leave them in the day room at the prison. About five years into his incarceration, he told me that he felt like God was putting him there for a reason. He said other prisoners were encountering God, and it was changing their lives. Long story short, this lit a fire under him. He created faith-based programs using basketball and CrossFit to bring men together. From that point on, I started sending all these devotionals to men throughout the prison system. And I can tell you, it had a profound impact on all of them.
