The Armor of God

5

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.  In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;  and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.  To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,  for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20

God,

In the midst of all my struggles, please help me stand firm against the devil's schemes.

Your word says that our fight is against spiritual forces of evil who try to confuse us by whispering lies of hopelessness, discouragement, and lack of faith.

I put on your armor to face the attacks of Satan. Lord,  help me to fight every battle, knowing that you have already given me the weapons to overcome and face everything standing on your victory.

I clothe myself in Your truth so that it will shut down the voices of the world, and I embrace Your righteousness which is the breastplate that protects my heart.

When thoughts come to my mind that tries to make me fall, let your salvation be the helmet that helps me to resist. When doubt arises, let me bring my thoughts captive to you so that I shall find the security I need and submit my will to yours.

I cover my feet with your peace so that as I walk, I may spread the good news of Jesus and be an ambassador of your kingdom here on earth.

I hold the shield of faith, trusting that no attack of the enemy will affect me, and may your word be the sword that helps me face the struggles of each day.

Thank you for not letting me fight alone, for your protection exposing deeds of darkness, bringing to light what needs to be known. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
