This past Saturday we ended our summer campaign, and I have been totally blown away by the reality of over 600 people giving graciously so that more people can have a guide to God’s presence every morning.
And all this generosity really got me praying and thinking.
Heading into the fall is a unique opportunity to take stock of what God has done this year so far, and to catch his vision for what more he could accomplish in our lives this year. And for First15, I couldn’t be more hopeful and excited for what God has in store.
I want to take a little bit of time today, if you’ll let me, to share how I believe God is growing this space for his presence that you and I are creating together.
When I started First15 in 2015, it was honestly a step of faith devoid of any true confidence. All I knew, is that God had called me to help his people center their lives around relationship with him. And I knew that practically, that was supposed to look like creating a daily guide to his presence, so people could begin every day loving God and being loved by him.
Before the very first devotional went out, I put my head down on my desk wondering if anyone would ever read this, if anyone would care. And in that moment, the Father spoke to my heart. What I sensed him tell me was, “Craig, if you write this, I will bring people to it.”
And now, over half way through 2018, we have a little over 100,000 people using First15 in over 200 countries. And every day we get testimonies of how God is meeting powerfully with his people. Families are being healed, marriages restored, whole churches knit together in God’s presence. If God is anything, he is faithful to his promises.
And now I sense the Lord calling me back to the place of wondering, of dreaming, of creating a fresh vision in partnership with his heart.
What would the world look like if millions of believers were beginning every day fulfilling the greatest commandment to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength? (Matthew 22:37). How would our families, businesses, churches, cities, and nations be different if believers were walking out their door every day equipped to truly love their neighbor as themselves?
I am dreaming of a world filled with Christians whose hearts and lives are centered around relationship first, and success, affirmation, status, being right, being the best, being something in the world’s eyes second.
I’m sharing this dream with you today for one reason, because I believe that you share that same dream. I believe that you’re engaging with First15 because you have that dream for yourself. And I believe that you’re sharing and giving because you have that dream for others.
And I just want to say thank you. Thank you first for making the decision to spend time in God’s presence. Every day you do that, you satisfy the heart of a God so good, so real, so loving, that what he cherishes most is simply being in relationship with you. And second, thank you for spreading the word. Every person you meet is someone created for true love living in a world that can’t offer it. We all need real relationship with God. And lastly, thank you for giving. Your gifts not only enable us to keep this thing going, but also enable us to go after this dream of seeing millions of believers spending time in God’s presence every morning.
I can’t wait to see what this fall brings for your life and mine. Let’s run together heart first to the presence of God each morning, and live this life the way God intended, giving and receiving love as if it is the only thing that matters, because it just might be.
